I like to think that grammar is what people make of it. Most people, these days, don’t really care whether something written be grammatically correct or not, nor should they because it is no longer impressed upon them to do so.

Be that as it may, I like to stress that good grammar, whether it be English grammar or French grammar or any other grammar, is important because it speaks volumes for the person who has written it. If we should dismiss this concept, then we’ll only be dismissing ourselves.

Again, I like to say God forbid the writer be so cheap as to forget to put the apostrophes…or did he forget? I think he was just being a pinchpenny, but that’s just my opinion. If I were posting advertisements, I would see to it that they be grammatically correct.

What amazes me is that sign-writers don’t pick up on the obvious mistakes like HUGH – it’s not as though it’s something you’d accidentally overlook.

So does the moderator of this blog ever answer his constituents’ comments? I think this is funny, but oh well? An apostrophe is expensive and most people don’t notice it, although I do agree that it is important that advertisements be grammatically correct.
