The one on the van is just a crackup! I can’t imagine doing business with that guy. At least some of the others could be attributable to “printing errors”? You never know, right?

This is kinda funny at first, but very alarming, especially if someone else would think it’s right. If this is really how they learned it in school (which i doubt really), then it’s really a long way to correct what they have thought as right. Else he just need to get back to school and learn basic grammar rules again. LOL

My sin with apostrophe abuse is on the plural possessives.

Certain words cross me up and I need to do a better job of learning the proper rules.

When you point out these mistakes, it is a bad reflection and something to be avoided in a public message or something that will be consumed by others

I’ve been living in the UK for 5 years and been amazed by how many times I’ve seen an apostrophe used to pluralize a word. Strange.

Americans have plenty of bad grammar habits, but this one seems to be uniquely British.

IF this were deliberate and humorous, it’s understandable.

But if it’s from sheer ignorance of punctuation rules, it’s quite annoying.

CD’s and DVD’s as plurals are correct. Apostrophe s can be used to form the plurals of abbreviations, acronyms, and letters/digits that are referred to as such (e.g. A’s.)

Most “style” guides don’t approve of that, but actual grammar references show it to be correct.

You know, this irks me, too. I frequent this bar or, since this is a British site, I suppose I should say pub, and the manager always pluralizes by putting an ‘s. It pisses me off. I always tell the bartender to change it and he does. The bartender also cracks jokes about what a moron the manager is because he also can’t spell any of the words that he may write on the board for that given day.

Maybe it’s just me, but for some reason the LADIE’S sign above just makes me feel dirty. And what in the hell is a ‘star buy’ anyways?
