I saw this in Ross Jones’ twitter stream.

No more millk and coffe untill after midday.

I feel your pain, Ross.

There are three options here: until, till, and the more informal ’til.

Some will tell you that “till” is incorrect, a misspelling of the abbreviated form of “until”. They are wrong. The word “till” actually predates “until”. I’m guessing that the erroneous assumption that till is abbreviated leads to the all too common misspelling shown in the above picture.

If I were Ross, I would refuse to accept the authority of a poorly spelled sign. Enjoy your third cup of morning coffee!
