New reader Luke has dropped us an email.
I only discovered your blog today, but I must say it’s wonderful.
Why thank you. Do go on, Luke.
I’ve spotted at least three errors on the new share size packets of Revels with the new flavour. I notice a missing period, teeth-grinding misuse of the word ‘lose’ and the word ‘limited’ misspelled.Needless to say, an email to Mars’ customer service department has been sent in the hope of free chocolate.
....don't loose hope.

....don't loose hope

This is a scan of a packet I bought in Toddington services. Luke’s photo was, by his own admission, a little fuzzy but that gave me the perfect excuse to hunt down the offending packaging myself. I happen to be rather partial to Revels so this was no chore. I have to say that every promotional share-size pack I found had the same nauseous copy.

In addition to those errors pointed out by Luke, I took exception to the use of hyphens as parentheses, an unnecessary exclamation mark and an ellipsis all at sea with no reason to exist save for the amusement and irritation of others. I think I’ll name this ellipsis ‘Sarah Palin’.

I would suggest the paragraph be rewritten as follows.

You voted; we listened. Coffee’s out – for the time being at least. So what’s the new flavour? Open the pack to find out.  For all you coffee lovers, don’t lose hope, this is for a limited time only.

Hmm, I still don’t like the flow but it’ll do for now. Special Christmas GrammarBlog points are available for anyone who can come up with better.

Meanwhile, Masterfoods UK is perilously close to being placed on [pause for emphasis] “The List“. (Dun dun derrrrrrrrr!)
