3. What bugs me is use of the qualitative tense when meaning the present, like What’s the capital of Peru? That WOULD BE Lima. Actually, it really is. (I’m just so happy I came across this site. Looking forward to getting involved.

10. I don’t like the he/she, or should it be she/he usage? How about s/he? Don’t forget about ‘he or she’ and ‘she or he’. ‘They’ is so much better. When I read a few pages of text using she/he I get tired.

    We can learn plenty from a cartoon!

15. I graduated from high school in 1995 and sadly not ONCE did I have “grammar” in any English classes. This needs to be a required class for middle/high school age children immediately. Proper language skills are dying out to chatspeak.

19. Proper English is still proper English no matter how efficient you are in using SMS like abbreviations. It is just spoiling essence of the language. Forget about grammar people have lost the habit of using English words and you can well imagine what could be the state of the spellings and vocabulary. Rightly said, this is ‘SMS generation’.

20. yes i would agree this is the sms generation and I think we all need to embrace it or be left behind in the dust. Grammar is still there just in a new form. the english language is changing as we know it.

27. I am completely for ‘they’ as a third-person singular gender pronoun! Haveing to use ‘he/she’ is frustrating as all heck!
