Mocking Poor Grammar
Since 2007
A noun that is formed from a verb and which describes an action. In English it ends in -ing, eg 'the baking of bread' and 'Smoking damages your health'.
The improbably named Jeff the fish got in touch a while back to share the following bit of tasty bait.
Jeff writes, "I saw this at the Vancouver Aquarium in British Columbia. I think they mean ‘bitten’ instead of ‘eaten’."
I hope so, otherwise I am led to believe there are a lot of unhappy piranhas getting dragged around the amazon by their last meal.
Update: Oops, it appears Jeff isn’t Jeff but actually Jason. Jeff is just the name of Jason’s website. I do like a website with a first name.
